Mr. Wang Qingjian is a partner based in the Hong Kong office of Haiwen & Partners. Mr. Wang's practice focuses on offshore funds formation and private equity investments. He has broad experience advising sponsors and investors of private equity funds on a variety of issues, covering funds formation, carried interest and related internal arrangements, operational compliance and downstream equity investments, and spin-off and separation arrangements.

Prior to joining Haiwen, Mr. Wang has practiced law for over 15 years in leading international law firms, and has acted as the sole in-house counsel in a USD-denominated private equity fund.

Mr. Wang was named as a “Rising Star” by the IFLR 1000 International Financial Law Review (2020 and 2022) and as an “Asia Future Leader” for China-related investment funds and private equity matters by IFLR 1000 International Financial Law Review (2021).

Mr. Wang represents fund sponsors in forming different types of funds, including USD and RMB-denominated parallel funds, project funds, co-investments funds, separately managed accounts, public company-backed funds and employee/executive co-investments funds. He also advises fund sponsors on their internal arrangements, operational compliance and downstream investments. Mr. Wang also represents a variety of investors (including listed companies, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and financial institutions) in connection with their investments in private investment funds.

Mr. Wang's experience includes acting for leading fund sponsors such as 3W Partners, Alibaba, Asia Green Fund, Buer Capital, Bits x Bites, CDG Capital, CDH Investments, Challenjers Capital, CLSA, CITIC, Hony Capital, Harvest Fund, Hillhouse Capital, Pagoda Investment, Redefine Capital, ShoreVest Capital, Temasek, Tencent, Morgan Stanley and Noah. His other PRC-based clients include BOCGI, CCB Trust, CCBI, China Reform Fund, China Chengtong, China Post, Sanxia Capital, Shenwan Hongyuan, StarQuest Capital, Taiping Financial, National Council for Social Security Fund, several other PRC banks and numerous high-net-worth individuals.
