Ray Chiang is a senior partner in the Corporate practice group, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and start-ups. In his corporate practice, he represents both investors (venture capital funds and corporate venture capital arms) as well as start-ups and founders. He is active in local and cross-border venture capital deals across many sectors including deep tech, AI, ESG and other impact investments.
As a Singapore-India relationship partner, Ray represents Indian investors, family offices and a broad range of Indian companies across multiple sectors, including several unicorns.

Ray is also active in employment work and currently co-heads the Employment practice group. In his employment practice, he advises on a wide spectrum of issues including industrial relations, restraint of trade, retrenchments, dismissals, investigations and disciplinary proceedings, workplace fairness and incentives.

  • Seatown Capital, Pavilion Capital and EDBI: Acting for Seatown Capital, Pavilion Capital and EDBI in a S$235m funding round in global experience entertainment company Cityneon, with other investors being financial institutions and family offices.
  • Panasonic: Acting for Panasonic Corporation in connection with the sale of its Southeast-Asian semiconductor chip assembly plants to UTAC Group for a consideration of S$116.5 million.
  • Robert Bosch: Acting for the investment arm of Robert Bosch on a 26% strategic investment stake in electric vehicle firm SUN Mobility, with the aim of building a cost-effective and convenient energy infrastructure solution to accelerate the adoption of EVs.
  • Wavemaker Partners: Acting for Wavemaker Partners in a US$4m seed funding in Neocrete, a New Zealand startup that decarbonises concrete production, with other investors including NZ Green Investment Finance and Icehouse Ventures.
  • Staple: Acting for Staple, which develops AI software for document processing solutions, in its seed financing round of US$4m from Wavemaker Partners. Other existing investors of Staple include 500 Global, Delivery Hero Ventures and Entrepreneur First.
