Rafael is a partner in Consortium Legal - Guatemala. He has more than 25 years of experience in Foreign Investment, Project Finance, International Commercial Contracts, Telecommunications, Tax Law and International Trade. He is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA); American Bar Association (ABA) and the Guatemalan Bar Association.

• Advised BAC Guatemala, S.A. and BAC International Bank, Inc., in a successful loan for Transportadora de Energía de Centroamérica, S.A. (TRECSA) and EEB Ingeniería y Servicios, S.A. (EEBIS), in order to repay existing debt, and a long-term loan afterwards;
• Advised Citadel Equity (Ireland) DAC and UMB Bank N.A., with respect to a successful financing for US$50,000,000 to Avianca Holdings, S.A. in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador y Costa Rica;
• Advised Deutsche Bank in the successful financing for US$119,500,000 to Arroyo Group for the Acquisition of Huinalá electricity generating project (located in northern México and that exports all energy to Guatemala);
• Advised BAC Credomatic in the successful securitization of future vouchers in Central America and Panama for US$700,000,000;
• Advised Disney in the successful acquisition of the local operation in Guatemala of 21st Century Fox.
