Koh Kia Jeng is a senior partner and deputy head of Dentons Rodyk's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. He is also the Co-Head of the Construction and Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy practice groups.

Kia Jeng has experience in a wide range of civil and commercial cases, including insurance, sale of goods, joint venture disputes, shareholders' disputes (including minority oppression cases and derivative actions), employment, building and construction, insolvency, economic torts, international commercial arbitration and general contract disputes.

Kia Jeng’s practice focuses on building and construction disputes as well as restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy (“RIB”) matters.

  • Confidential client: Acted for a Singapore listed construction company in an arbitration against the developer-employer under the Singapore Institute of Architects’ Arbitration Rules (“SIA Rules”). Usual issues of delay, variations, defects, and contractual issues. Related issues would be certification by the architect, release of retention sums, prolongation costs, and (critical) impact of delay events.
  • Confidential client: Acting for a key sub-contractor from the PRC in 2 arbitrations (one commenced by the main contractor and the other by its sub-sub-contractor) under the SIA Rules. Our client had to deal with allegations of corruption and bribery, termination of relevant sub-contracts (and the impact of alleged corruption and bribery), valuation of works, and procedural issues because there are related Court actions.
  • Confidential client: Acted for the developer in an arbitration against its main contractor under the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (“SIAC”) Rules. Usual issues of delay, variations, defects, and contractual issues. Related issues were certification by the architect, release of retention sums, prolongation costs, and (critical) impact of delay events.
