Femi Olubanwo is a founding partner of Banwo & Ighodalo, a leading full-service Nigerian law firm that provides first-class legal advice in most aspects of Nigerian corporate and commercial law. 

His main practice areas are banking and corporate finance, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate restructuring and mining.

  • Co-led (with one of his partners) the team that advised a syndicate of eight Nigerian banks on a two-tranche facility of N82.5 Billion and US$100 Million advanced to Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services Limited (EMTS). Also advised a larger syndicate of 13 Nigerian banks in connection with the circa US$1.2 Billion refinancing of the previous loan facility advanced to EMTS
  • Led the team that advised BNP Paribas SA in connection with a US$25 Million term loan facility advanced to Dangote Industries Limited and its subsidiary, Dangote Oil and Gas Company Limited
  • Led the team on a US$30 Million uncommitted short term transactional secured trade finance facility to Acacia Trading SA 
  • Led the team which advised the lenders in connection with a reserve based lending and corporate facility of up to US$1.7 Billion advanced to Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc. The transaction involved both a Reserve Base Lending (RBL) and corporate facility with the RBL having an accordion feature. 
  • Femi has also advised many local and international banks on the internal processes behind their operations and has conducted in-house seminars for many banking institutions, including BNP Paribas and Natixis on unique transaction structures and documentation.
