Catherine holds an LLB from National and Kapodistrian University (Athens) and LLM from Columbia University.  She worked with Shearman and Sterling in New York (1988-1992) and then with Karatzas and Partners as associate (1992-1996) and managing partner (1996- ).

The firm is led by a woman, the majority of the partners and associates are also women.  The firm offers flexible working arrangements for young mothers.

Catherine is currently working on the sale and transfer by National Bank of Greece of:

  • a secured portfolio of ~EUR1.65bn (Project Symbol).
  • an unsecured portfolio of ~EUR3.2bn (Project Mirror).

She advised the Hellenic Republic acting through the Public Debt Management Agency:

  • in early 2019, in connection with the issuance of a EUR2.5bn 3.450% 5-year Government Bond (GGB), the 1st benchmark trade after Greece’s exit from its third and final fiscal programme.
  • in early 2018, in connection with the issuance by the Hellenic Republic of €3,000,000,000 3.375% Notes due 2025.
  • in late 2017, in connection with the issuance by the Hellenic Republic of €3,000,000,000, 4.375% Notes due 2022.
  • in late 2017, in connection with the offer of the Hellenic Republic to exchange any and all of the then-outstanding securities issued during the 2012 Greek debt restructuring or the 2012 private sector involvement for securities issued by the Hellenic Republic (the PSI Bonds Exchange).

She advised Regency SA in a complex and time-sensitive transaction involving the restructuring of senior debt and adjustment of the company’s equity, resulting in a ~EUR304,000,000 reduction in the nominal value of its debt.
