Local firm Vlasova Mikhel & Partners secures its place at the top of the rankings having clinched roles on some large transactions. A highlight representation was for Turkcell in its $500 million acquisition of Belarus' third-largest mobile phone operator, Belarusian Telecommunications Network, from the Belarusian government.
"The firm is fast and reliable ... they are good at credit and securities matters, while Emilianova is good on collateral and contractual work," notes a client. "She easily understands our needs and the questions we have, and she gives comprehensive answers."
While the firm lost Kyril Apanasevich to Sorainen this year, the praise that the highly-active Tatiana Emelianova receives shows the regard that the firm is held in by clients. "She is excellent, we were very much satisfied," says one client who sought her advice on financial law. Another client says of a deal: "Emelianova made a [substantial] contribution to the completion of the transaction and I was very much impressed ... we doubled her fees," the client says.
In another notable deal, Emelianova and Elena Kumashova advised Frankfurt-based BHF Bank in a €100 million export finance transaction to Gomelsteklo (Minsk) in January 2009 for a float glass line producer. The firm also worked on two substantial syndicated loan facilities involving local and foreign parties.
