"A recognised leading firm" is how one competitor describes Estudio Juridico Gross Brown, a legal team known for its banking practice. Peers highlight the work of Jorge Rafael Gross Brown. "He's one of the best lawyers in the country," says one. "He advises three of the five most important banks in the country."
Clients agree with that assessment. "The main partner, Jorge Gross Brown, is the one who impress me the most," notes a client. "He knows the law, and especially banking law. His response time to any consultation is really remarkable. In a matter of hours, I have his opinion."
In February 2011, the firm advised BBVA Paraguay in a $100 million fixed-rate security issuance, conforming to Rule 144/Reg S. The transaction was the first of its kind for Paraguay, and signals a new path for capital market financings. Additionally, the firm assisted French bank Natixis with a facility arrangement worth $50 million.
The firm has reorganised itself recently, after banking specialist Atilio Gómez Grassi departed to start his own firm, but local practitioners do not believe this will significantly damage the practice. "They are doing well," says one competitor, "I don't think it will affect anyone very much."
