Leading Spanish firm Garrigues has had an office in Casablanca since 2005 and in Tangiers since 2009. It has a strong tax practice and receives regular mandates on general corporate matters from Spanish clients and foreign investors.
A telecom client says "they were very good, they gave the services that we were looking for and we fulfilled all our objectives". Another foreign client says: "We made three or four divestments and they were satisfactory, close to the level of services in Spain... it was a very big advantage for us that they speak Spanish."
A US client says: "Great experience, we really relied on them heavily; it is more common that initial legal advisors wait for questions but these guys anticipated them." The client gives good feedback on Ignacio García and Hamid Errida for being "very knowledgeable and extremely helpful".
García and Errida advised France Télécom on tax and due diligence for its €640 million acquisition of 40% stake in Médi Télécom in December 2010.
In another large transaction García, Errida and Jaáfar Laidi advised Santusa Holding on the corporate and tax matters of its €57 million sale of a 2.24% interest in ONA, a quoted Moroccan company. The sale was completed in July 2010.
