December 31 2010 saw the exit of Bracewell & Giuliani Central Asia after sixteen years of operations. The successors of the firm combined to form VSB Partners. Gregory Vojack, renowned for his capital markets expertise, originally founded the Kazakh practice of Bracewell & Giuliani in 1994 before becoming a founder of the new firm. The new firm specialises in capital markets, M&A, banking and finance and cross-border matters for domestic and international clients. The firm has been busy on a number of mandates including acting for Frontier Mining as part of the reorganisation of a group of companies which hold licences for the exploration and production of copper and other metals in Kazakhstan and in Russia. The goal is to establish a consolidated mining and smelting company. The firm is also representing a group of note holders, including Argo Capital Management and Black River Management on the $531 million subsoil use contracts of two Kazakhstan companies, which are guarantors of the notes that have been terminated by the Kazakhstan Government.
