Wierzbowski Eversheds is the big mover this year. On recommendation from market players, the firm enters the rankings into tier three. "I would stick them in tier three or tier two," says one partner, adding: "They took over the role for the government. They advise constantly the Polish road authority that's responsible for commissioning all the infrastructure related to roads. And they're pretty good".
The firm was appointed by Warsaw City Council to their panel of four firms for major new advisory frameworks covering all public-private partnerships (PPP) to be procured in the city over thirty-six months. The firm was also arranging the €300 million financing for the investment programme carried out by Warsaw Trams. The loan facilities were signed with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and will be used to finance the modernisation of the tram system in Warsaw.
Partner Krzysztof Wierzbowski was supporting the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in twelve project finance, PPP and public procurement projects related to Polish toll roads and expressways and the firm negotiated and redrafted finance documents for Fersa Energias Renovables in regard to a loan granted for financing the construction of a wind farm in Poland.
