Juris Corp consolidates its position in the market, with an established reputation in its areas of expertise. "They're the best guys on the street for banking practice, and they stay focused on the banking side and try to be lawyers for the lenders only and they don't take business from the borrower side. In terms of experience, and expertise of the team, they're the best guys right now for structured finance. It's a niche focus in the team and the overall experience of the firm and sector," a client explains. Founding partner H Jayesh is highly recommended by clients. "He has fantastic knowledge, especially in the derivatives space. The best derivatives lawyer in India today," one says
The firm was involved in drafting provisions and documentation relating to derivatives guidelines which had been issued by the Reserve Bank of India.
A notable transaction was its representation of RBS in the extension of a term loan facility to Infotel Broadband Services. The firm continues to act as the preferred lender's counsel for Reliance Industries, who was the guarantor in this transaction. The deal was completed in October 2010 and was valued at $1 billion.
One client complains jokingly: "The firm has a monopoly on derivatives practice in the country, despite the best efforts of larger firms to break into that area. I have to go to them for advice because they're so good; at times it's like I'm a captive."
