Mayora & Mayora commands respect from the market. One local practitioner observes that the "well-established and very well-known firm" is "definitely involved in the big projects". Competitors note that Claudia Pereira and María Fernanda Morales are active in the banking and finance industry.
One of the firm's most talented and well-known attorneys, according to feedback, is Rafael Briz - who one peer notes has developed a highly-regarded electricity practice. Briz, along with partners Claudia Pereira and Eduardo A Mayora, counselled Iberdrola Energía, TPS de Ultramar, and Energías de Portugal (EDP) as they sold their equity participation in Distribución Eléctrica Centroamericana Dos (DECA II) to Empresas Públicas de Medellín. The acquisition was valued at $635 million.
Additionally, Rafael Briz guided the implementation of a prepaid public transportation system, with electronic cards for 1800 buses that would benefit nearly three million passengers. Without a legal model to steer implementation, the deal is notable for its creativity and tax structure.
"We have a lot of esteem for their partners," one competitor says, noting that they often refer clients to the firm when conflicts arise.
