Elias Paraskevas represents a solid presence in the banking market, and has had an extremely successful 12 months, with 2011 itself very productive.
Two deals in particular stand out. On one, the esteemed practice head Dimitris Paraskevas joined with respected partner John Mazarakos in acting as local counsel to Sidley Austin in advising Banc of America Securities and Credit Suisse in their roles as lead arrangers of a loan to a number of different borrowers. This came to a sizeable $1.3 billion on completion.
Another exciting deal for the firm remains ongoing, due to its nature. In this the prior team, joined by Michael Stefanakis, is acting as local counsel to Latham & Watkins in advising Goldman Sach and Deutsche Bank as lead arrangers of a senior revolving credit facility, as well as advising on a future bond issue as well. This deal is said to be worth around €265 million.
Elias Paraskevas is also renowned within the market for its M&A capabilities, and the long-standing firm reports a good year of work to back up its tier placing.
Dimitris Paraskevas, a well-respected figure in the Greek market, has been active on the firm's most sizeable and noteworthy deals. One entails ongoing advice to insurance giant MetLife as it looks to acquire international life insurance company Alico. Currently still in the process of finalisation, the deal is valued at $16.2 billion globally.
On another interesting transaction the firm has been acting for Watson Pharmaceuticals on its acquisition of a private drug developer, manufacturer and marketer, a deal worth $562 million, which closed in May 2011.
