Díaz-Durán & Asociados – Central Law takes the latter part of its name from the regional network Central Law, of which it is a member. Last year, the firm guided consumer packaging company Envases Universales- Rexam through a corporate and legal restructuring in Guatemala. The firm also handles the group's litigation concerns.
One of the firm's more prominent attorneys is Juan Pablo Carrasco de Groote, who is currently the President of the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala. "He is doing good work," says one competitor, who also notes that Carrasco recently handled an ICSID case making him "one of the few attorneys in Guatemala with such experience". The respect for Carrasco's arbitration and corporate practice is shared by other practitioners.
The firm was hired by Envases Universales-Rexam, a business conglomerate representing packaging companies in the food, paint, and chemical industries, to rearrange their corporate and legal structures. Additionally, the firm advised Promociones Turisticas Nacionales as they acquired a housing project located in Antigua.
