Michael Wilson & Partners has had a busy year and has been involved in some notable instructions. The firm is presently acting for a significant mining company with regard to a potential €1 billion acquisition in the uranium sector in Kazakhstan. This takes place in the context of JSC Akbastau and Karatau's exploration and production of four uranium blocks, the biggest uranium deposit and exploration area in Kazakhstan. Additionally, the firm is advising HSBC with regard to anti-monopoly matters and the purchase of retail banking assets of RBS Kazakhstan. Last but not least, the firm is presently displaying its multi-jurisdictional capabilities in advising AltynGroup Kazakhstan on the €750 million purchase of several goldmines owned by Polyus Gold. "They seem to be on more deals but I don't see them so much," says one partner.
