Law Firm VARUL is, since January 2011, the name of the firm formerly known as Devyzis & Partners, which joined with Varul Vilgerts Smaliukas in Lithuania to forge this pan-Baltic partnership.

Arguably the firm's most interesting deal this year was acting for AS Starman, a large telecommunications company that has Bancroft Private Equity as its majority stakeholder. The deal was a DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial) transaction, in which VARUL negotiated for the use of Levira's (Estonia's sole television broadcaster) masts. The deal entailed a lot of difficult regulatory work and completed in March 2011 for a confidential sum.

The recent merger of Varul Vilgerts Smaliukas and Devyzis & Partners resulted in Law Firm VARUL. This firm is already starting to build itself a presence on the market. The firm advises the Lithuanian Government and Vilnius City Municipality and is presently conducting a feasibility study on the development of a €100 million 25,000 seat Multifunctional National Stadium through a PPP (public-private partnership) model.
