Boss & Young's leading partner Hubert Tse has advised on several large M&A deals this year. Tse recently represented a leading listed Asian financial services group on its acquisition of a 15% equity stake in a leading local Chinese futures company. The $50 million transaction was novel because it was one of few foreign M&A deals involving Chinese futures companies.
Tse also led in representing a leading Shanghai foreign property development company on a 100% sale of equity in a Shanghai commercial/residential/office project to a leading Chinese private equity firm, valued at Rmb1.9 billion ($298 million).

Senior partner Hubert Tse leads Boss & Young's private equity practice out of the Shanghai office. The team represents world leading financial institutions, private equity funds and hedge funds on the formation and structuring of Rmb and Qualified Foreign Limited Partners (QFLP) Chinese private equity funds, and advises foreign investors on their investments and exits from the China market. Boss & Young represents leading global and regional private equity funds and hedge funds in China, as well as clients like Harbinger Capital Partners, GE Capital, DBS Private Equity and others.
In 2010, Boss and Young advised a leading US private equity firm on the formation and structuring of a $300 million Rmb fund in Tianjin, and the accompanying QFLP application. This deal was significant in that the firm was one of the first to be approved for setup in Shanghai under the new QFLP private equity rules issued in December of 2010.
The team also moved through several other Tianjin-based deals, including advising a leading Asian private equity firm on the structuring and formation of a $100 million onshore Rmb fund, and advising a private equity fund on the structuring and formation of a joint venture $150 million offshore Rmb fund. In addition, they advised a leading New-York based hedge fund on a co-investment and investment mandate from the China Investment Corporation (CIC) and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
